What to look at the Web 2.0 awards-a plethora
liked a few such as www.last.fm
realtravel.com and generally wasted a lot of time just browsing

Week 7-Wikis

Had plenty of fun searhing for wikis

Audio Books

Loved some of the readings
Went back to my childhood and heard Briar Rose
Hated the reader's accent but memories
Also listened to Walt Whitman's Song of myself

Good idea

Podcasts

I have never listened to a podcast, so it was a revelation
I actually found that it wasn;t as bad as I thought
I have now subscribed to the book show

Library Technology-RFID

The BiblioChip™ RFID Library System, from Bibliotheca, is implemented for item identification, self checkout, antitheft control, stock take and much more.
BiblioChip includes Patron Self Check
At the BiblioSelfCheck the patron identifies themselves with a card. The patron can then put a stack of items for circulation on the desktop. Details of this material will be displayed on the Self Check Screen. A receipt may be printed if desired. The self check also allows patrons to return items (if the library wishes), as well as view their account and renew books (according to library rules). .
Staff Stations
At the circulation desk a BiblioPad Staff Station is installed. This station can be utilised for both staff assisted circulation and for initialising new material and attaching RFID labels.
Security Gates
Every patron enters and leaves the library through the BiblioGates. In contrast to common EAS systems (electronic article surveillance), every single book which is not checked out properly will be identified by title, barcode number, author, etc. In this case an alarm will be set off. Automated Returns
At the BiblioReturn patrons can return books automatically. The automatic book return can be set up outside the library or in the entrance area, allowing a secure 24 hour returns facility. Once an item has entered the BiblioReturn it is returned in the Library Management System. If desired, patrons are able to print a receipt as evidence of the return of their items.
Book Sorting Systems
The BiblioReturn is complemented by the optional
BiblioSorter. The sorter system allows for any number of sorts from three sorter bins upwards. Once a book is returned the system uses the RFID tag to determine into which bin it should be sorted. For example, the Library may have one bin for the current location, one for other branches, and one for reserved items.
Inventory Control
The BiblioWand inventory control system provides the means for efficient shelf checking, inventory maintenance, and the location of an individual book.
RFID LabelsBiblioChip labels are ISO standards compliant and available for books, videos, CD/DVDs and media kits.

Sounds good
Is ERL ready for it and can we afford it????

Hi Everyone attempting Library 2.0.
Well I've gotten this far, and apart from not reading the screen properly, there have been no major setbacks-yet.
I don't think I will ever make a professional blogger but who knows
